DS won't eat/do anything

My ds1 hasn't eaten but a handfull of food since Monday (it's Friday now). At first I thought it was excitement over Christmas and everything. Now I'm wondering. He doesn't have a fever, no cold, flu symptoms at all. My dr's office is closed today. He seems to be enjoying the extra attention and managed to perk up during present opening and other activities that he wanted to do. I don't want to completely dismiss it but at the same time I feel like he's kind of playing mind games. He's almost 12. Any experience/suggestions? Thanks!

I don't have a pat answer but I have had several times that I am not sure if the behavior was a mind game, they just needed the extra attention or if they were indeed ill. If he was able to perk up when there were gift/activities my best guess is that it may maybe one of the first two. After determining what is wrong, I usually sit down and confort the child about the behavior and we talk it out. We have a larger family as do you and I know sometimes my kiddos say they feel a little lost in the crowd. We do our best but I know myself during this time of the year it is easy to happen.

It is so funny, my dh and I say it was easier to communicate with our kids before they could talk! Those teens/preteens are hard ones!

I'm totally thinking it was for attention. He's been eating today and is fine. I'm releived but still a bit upset. It is VERY hard to communicate with him now!

He's doing it again so I'm taking him to my homeopath on Monday. Then we're going to the eye dr. on Wednesday to make sure he's not nautious from his glasses prescription. I just want him to be himself again. He missed a homeschooling party tonight which I know he would have enjoyed.

I don't post much on this thread, but probably will be on here more often now. I just wanted to see how your ds is doing. The challenges of teenagers. I inherited mine at age 14 and am still trying to figure out what exactly this wonderful yet confusing character is that lives in my house!
What is the update?

Thanks for asking. He seems to be "over" it for now. He's been to the Dr. and the eye dr. and was told by both of them that nothing was wrong. He started a new homeschooling enrichment class a few weeks back and I think he was nervous about it. Anyway, with love, we just said we weren't going to put up with it. Thanks again!
