anyone taking met?

I start taking it tonight. We've been ttc since 8/05. I was "borderline" pcos, but never treated for it. We've done many iui cycles and 1 ivf cycle, all bfn. We're thinking about doing ivf again, but trying to wait until after we sell our house and move. The last couple of months, my pcos seems to be getting worse. So I went to my ob/gyn today and she thought it would be ok for me try to the met while we're waiting to do ivf. So I'm hoping taking the met, and some lifestyle changes, will do the trick. We also have mfi issues, but I know some get pg with worse numbers than we have, so I figure why not give this a try.

Just looking for some other met users!

I am. PCOS, thyroid disorder and MFI-idiopathic low sperm count, so there isn't even anything that can be done for it. Believe it or not, I got pregnant with my daughter taking only Met, Synthroid and Clomid. She'll be eleven months old next week and I'm hoping that the same combination will work again soon. It took about ten months after starting the Met to get pregnant-the Synthroid was added about six months after I started the Met and the Clomid at eight months-I got pregnant on the second cycle with Met, Synthroid and Clomid.

Best of luck to you.

I've had great luck getting pg with met. I take a really low dose, 500, and twice I've gotten pg within 3m. I m/c both
Between m/c I tried for a year to get pg without met.

I take it sporadically. It helped a LOT when I first started but truthfully I made huge lifestyle changes then, too. Now I waffle... don't take the greatest care of myself... take te met half-heartedly... truthfully I think diet and exercise pack a much bigger punch. But why, why, why can't riding the elliptical be as fun as surfing the web???

I'm on met. I took it for about a year before conceiving ds (along with clomid). I do think it helped & have just restarted it as I'd like to conceive again as soon as possible but know it will probably take some time. I didn't find any real changes until I was at 1500mg.

Thank you for all of your replies! I'm hoping I can stick it out with the met. I'm sure my body is just getting use to the meds, but I hate feeling so shaky. But I'm going to try to stick it out and work on the lifestyle changes. Its my hope that the meds with lifestyle change will really help, and then I'll start to wean off the met while continuing with good eating habits and exercise.

I was on met when I conceived ds. I tried met by itself, met with clomid, and finally met with injectables with an IUI, and finally that did the trick. This time around, maybe since I was 30 pounds lighter, the RE didn't have me on met, and I conceived with IVF.

I was wondering if met could be taken in conjunction with injectables. We aren't opposed to trying ivf again. We're also in the process of (trying to!) sell our house, so we're trying to wait until we move so that we aren't doing 2stressful things at once! But if we haven't sold our house by summer, we might just go for it since we aren't getting any younger. But we figured that while we wait, we might as well try something different and new just to see what happens. I had been doing acupuncture and reiki, then I totally stopped ovulating on my own. I swear, nothing like my body reacting the complete opposite to what it should be doing :

With DD I was on it, 1500 mgs a day. I found it didn't affect me too bad, but I did have to remember to eat before I worked out. This time around it kicked my butt! I was on 1700 mgs a day and I had all of the evil stuff, so I've been cut back to the extended release tablets at 750 mgs a day and it's so much more managable. I still have to remember to eat so that my blood sugar stays stable and I don't feel like I am going to pass out or throw up, or both.
