Question for those doing selective/delayed vax

Thread Starter
hello. I'm still in the process of deciding whether or not to vaccinate my daughter, and I'm curious about what other parents have chosen for selective/delayed vaccination. So my questions to those who have done this are:
1) which vaccines did you chose to do and why?
2) how old was your child when you started?
3) any bad reactions?
Thank you! This is one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make and it helps to hear what others have done.

There is a selective and delayed vaxing board, you may get more answers there!
also at the top of the board you will see a thread of people's schedules.

1) which vaccines did you chose to do and why?
DTaP- Pertussis protection and the vaccine, if it fails, makes pertussis less severe if you do get the disease. The D portion for travel to endemic areas. T wasn't really an issue, but it's there.

MMR- highly effective, don't see any autism connection

IPV- mostly travel reasons, there hasn't been a case here for a long time so I wouldnt have done it otherwise

Hib- got it once we had child in school situation and infant at home--nonreactive vaccine, aluminum free option, etc

Hep B and Varicella perhaps later. Hep B definitely later and hoping for natural chicken pox immunity.

Will look at the new prevnar 13 vax in the future

2) how old was your child when you started?
every child was kinda different, middle child was most delayed but now we are delayed mostly because we only do one shot at a time. so we had DTaP and then we had a Hib later and then the next DTaP --etc

bad reactions

none so far

1) which vaccines did you chose to do and why?
Hib, DTaP, Polio, Prevnar. Chose these to protect against worse diseases.
CP, MMR might do much later (~10y) unless kids get natural immunity (or not at all), Hep B probably not at all.

2) how old was your child when you started?
DS was 2 months for the first shot, DD 3 months, but we do one vax at a time with at least 2 weeks in between, so somewhat delayed on pretty much all of them. DD we delayed Prevnar till 13 months, because of more research, but finally decided to do it before she entered preschool at 18 months.

3) any bad reactions?
Nothing major. Mild local reactions (redness, minor swelling), slight sleepiness/fussiness 1-3 days after the shot.
