Free easy readers?

My dd, (almost 4) is dying to learn to read. We've been doing reading eggs with her, and things like that. I went to buy some BOB books, but man! are they expensive!!! I was wondering if there is any thing online that I could print out? Does that exist? I suppose I could make up simple stories, but if there was something I could just print out, that was similar to the BOB series, that would be great!

starfall.com has stuff you can print out on your own that matches up with their online content.

Have you checked your library?

Hi,

My son didn't care for the Bob books, but we did have them here from the library for awhile and he read them.

Some stuff available online:

McGuffey's Eclectic Primer. Make sure to download the PDF file for the full book instead of just the text file.

For just individual words there is Word Mastery: A Course in Phonics for the First Three Grades. I had downloaded it awhile back and found it again here on Don Potter's page full of interesting educational finds:

Hope these will be a bit of help.

if you don't mind online games, my kids love to play "super why": http://pbskids.org/superwhy/index.html#

as for beginner books, you can buy the bob books or other beginner books used at homeschoolclassifieds.com or amazon.com ...or the library should have bob books (or something comparabe). hth.

oh...i forgot! when my dd was learning to read, we loved these two printables:

and she loved this site....she would read the sentences and color the pix accordingly. http://www.littlegiraffes.com/sentencepractice.html

Try this site. It's not all free but a lot of it is.

I'll second the library. I think it would be better to borrow the books, have her read them, and then return them and check out more. After a couple of readings, she'll want to move on to new ones anyhow. Good luck!
