I know there are more and more of these threads every day, but I wanted to add mine too!
Bodhi Zen Taylor was born this past Tuesday at 8:09am. He was 8 lbs. 7 oz. (at just over 38 weeks)....so he was a big boy!
He was delivered by scheduled c-section (due to my blood pressure and concern about his size), however I actually went into labor that morning on my own and was contracting pretty regularly by the time the procedure started.
Everyone I met at the hospital was fantastic. Very gentle and friendly -- even the doctors. Despite the less-than-ideal birthing situation, I think it could not have gone better. Zen was brought to me in recovery so that we could be skin to skin and he could nurse before they washed him. They had no problem with any of our requests (or refusals). He roomed in with me and continued to nurse like a champ. And the doctor even allowed me to come home the next night (after about 35 hours at hospital) to finish recovering at home.
I'm still healing up, but Zen and I are both doing well. Homeopathics, Reiki, finding the balance between getting enough rest and getting enough movement, etc. are all seeming to help.
I'll post pictures later, when I come back to read all the other birth announcements. Congratulations to everyone who's babies have arrived and to all of you who will be holding your little ones any day now!
Much love!!
