I've been researching the Hib vaccine, and 2 things that I've found that I have questions about. Here's one:
http://www.chop.edu/consumer/jsp/div...c.jsp?id=75725
"Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) is a bacterium that infects the lining of the brain, causing meningitis."
Does Hib infection always result in meningitis? This is what seems to be implied here.
Is Hib infection equal to meningitis? Or does it cause it? I'm a bit confused by this.
Also this bolded statement:
"What are the side effects of the Hib vaccine?
Some children may feel pain or soreness in the local area of the shot and occasionally get a low-grade fever. The Hib vaccine does not have serious side effects."
How could this be true? I thought every vaccine had potential serious side effects. Of course, this article was reviewed and approved by Paul Offit.
Any links or input on this would be greatly appreciated.
