Progesterone only birth control pill to increase supply?

My midwife said that the progesterone only birth control pill could help increase milk supply...she sited a couple studies. However I am having trouble finding info saying anything but that it either decreases supply or has no impact. Does anyone have any experience with this increasing their supply? Thanks!

Please post them if you find them - I have only heard of it decreasing supply as well. Perhaps she has mis-remembered the information?

Yes it increased my supply. I exclusively pump so I know when I have an increase and decrease. I asked this same question a few weeks ago on another forum but didn't find anyone that had notice an increase. As soon as I went off of it I had a dip in my supply. Then about 6 weeks later my period started and it dipped further. Part of me says to go back on it. The other part says don't because I didn't enjoy the side effects it had for me and DD. It made DD constipated. It just made me moody and uninterested in sex. Its difficult to know what the best thing is for us. My supply is about half of what it used to be.

I had a feeling it decreased my supply slightly. I didn't take them longer than 1 month and pump and breastfeed. Really, I wouldn't know specifically the amount. I had headaches with it, so I stopped.

My understanding is that it seems to have different results for different people. I have heard it suggested that it is more likely to case trouble if you start it right after the birth.

I think I have read to wait 6-8 weeks after birth to start it...I am 6 weeks now. I really would like to stay away from hormones...was planning on getting a copper iud put in...but I am considering it if it will increase my supply. So far I haven't heard enough to convince me to try it though. I really don't want to put up with side effects.
