Milk vs. Cow's Milk

Do you say milk or cow's milk? I swear I feel like I'm the only one that calls it cow's milk. "Milk" to me is human milk! And just calling it cow's milk, in my experience, really gets people thinking.

I call it milk
Although I have corrected my mom NUMEROUS times, I have to tell her my milk is NOT MOO JUICE! Cows milk is moo juice, my milk is wonderful mama's milk.

Around here we have 4 kinds of milk - mama's milk, rice milk, cow milk, and goat milk. Well, mama's milk is often "nursies". We do just say "milk" unless there is a need to specify which one (like if DD wants a certain kind).

cow's milk
we don't buy it - almond milk is the only non-mama's milk in our house
just as i would say goat's milk too.

I tend to say "cow's milk" because it's so common now for people to drink a number of different milks. In my house, at any given time, we will have cow's milk, almond milk, soy milk, ect. There's no more breastmilk at my house now but when there was we called it "mama milk".

My daughters say cow milk. My youngest sometimes gets confused that that stuff in the refrigerator isn't mommy milk, so I'm trying to watch my words.

we usually just have nanas (breast milk) or rice milk. But when i am refering to cows milk, i call it cows breast milk.

Its just milk here.

Kayla sometimes called my breast milk Baby milk though. She knows the difference.

we call it cow's milk. we have cow milk (exdh insists), hempmilk, soy milk and sometimes rice milk....

I call it cow milk around family and friends, but Milk at work and the grocery store and whatnot. But its because I'm lactose intolerant and can handle lactaid, soy, etc. I have to be descriptive or will end up with a stomach ache.

In our house, I make milk and we buy cow's milk from the store:-).

My daughter calls breastfeeding "ninis," and as a result that is what my husband and I usually call it, as silly as that must sound! "Milk" is hemp milk, and cow's milk is "moo milk."

I call it all milk. It's a catch all term at our house- human, cow, soy, goat, rice, cat... whatever.

If I'm being specific, I'll qualify. This happen's pretty frequently, so cow's milk is not default "milk".

We call it cow milk. DS knows about mama milk, soy milk, and rice milk, so we have to be specific. Nobody's ever commented on it, even when he asks for cow milk in a restaurant.

Our sons are both allergic to the casein in cow's milk, so we always specify what type of milk we are talking about....either mama milk, cow milk/cow cheese/cow yogurt (which they understand they can't have), or soy milk products, or rice milk products.

I tell them though that when most people say "milk" they should assume it's cow milk and that they cannot have it. It's really important they understand as they get older that when most people are speaking of milk, cheese, yogurt, ice cream, etc that it's always cow and not okay for them.

Yeah, that. Although DD2 has apparently outgrown her dairy allergy, she still won't consume any cow's milk products. She just doesn't like them (unless it's the cheese on a pizza!). So we have cow's milk and rice or soy milk in the house all the time and call each what it is, either "cow's milk" or "rice milk" or whatever.

BTW, DD2 is nursing at 3yo and I try asking her what she gets, to see if she thinks of it as milk or not, or what. Or even if she's still getting anything. She says it's juice, so no problem confusing cow's milk with mama's juice here. LOL

At our house, the cow milk is divided into a couple different categories so milk ALWAYS has a qualifier on it. We have a share in a cow (Nell) but we don't get enough of it to put in DH's tea (plus it's a bit of a waste) and I don't like raw cream in my coffee, so there is Nell milk, Daddy's milk and Mummy's cream. DD isn't nursing any longer, but when she was it was just called "boobies" or "boobie juice". When I was growing up cow's milk was generally called "moo juice" - and even now my friends and I refer to water as "tap juice". LOL Plus hereabouts a lot of people can't/don't do dairy so there's usually soy milk, rice milk or hemp milk at friends' places. IME milk generally needs a qualifier!
