You can also buy partial wool felt from Wool Felt Central. It's a better price than 100% wool felt, but it's way nicer than acrylic felt. There's a 20% off coupon on Weefolkart.com for the store. When I bought their felt for my advent calendar, I used their instructions for soaking and drying it first, and that made it nicer and took away that "manufacturered" feel that it had.
You could also try the Kumon Eco-felt which you could online at Joanns or something. It's made from recycled bottles and I'm not sure but may be by the yard. So, it's not wool, but it's recycled, and much cheaper than wool.
Just depends on what you are looking for. The ecofelt feels much nicer than cheap craft felt.
