How one acts is how one acts.
Doesn't Deer portray Wakefield's Crohn's patents as forshadowing his Autism claims? My reading of Deer's claim is that the key difference is that his Crohn's claim didn't get traction.

The claim in the Deer fan club is that those studies don't support Wakefield. As with everything here, you choose your side, you pick your evidence, you get the conclusion that supports your side.

I don't mean any of the above as a criticism of any side in particular, just a general statement about the futility of evidence and the unresolvability of disagreements like this.

Well, if they generally critiqued the studies and pointed out what was wrong with them, I wouldn't have a problem. But the claim I usually see is that there have not been any studies which duplicated Wakefield's work. It is also usual to say "only 12 children" disregarding the fact that the team at Royal Free saw over 170 before they were forced to stop looking at these sick kids. It is the distortions which bug me, not the honest debate.

OK. Perhaps it would be useful to locate the studies and have a read. Primary sources and all that

The Krigsman link doesn't work, but I'll see if I can locate them. Race you!

Sorry, I'm at work. So you'll have to find them all by yourself. Perhaps some other folks will have time to read them too.

For the first study, everybody seem to be linking to

Additionally in 2005, a study (27) was published by Gonzalez, Lopez et al, seeking evidence of immunological alterations in 68 autistic children ages 22 months to 11 years and presenting with digestive systems, and examining biopsies from their digestive tracts. Endoscopies and colosopies were undertaken, with biopsies of the esophagus, stomach, duodenum and colon, with verification of presence of inflammation, eosiophil infiltration, lymphoid nodular hyperplasia and CD-4 and CD-8 cells. The results were that lymphoid nodular hyperplasia was discovered in 2/68 esophagus, 6/68 stomachs, 8/68 duodenums and 36/68 (53%) of colons. Eosiophil infiltration with more than 20 eosiphils per field were found in 3/68 eosphagus, 1/68 stomach, 8/68 duodenum and 24/68 (35%) colons. Inflammatory reactions were found in 56/68 (82%) esophogitis, 64/68 (94%) gastritis, and all (100%) presented with duodenitis and colitis. CD-4/CD-8 relationship existed of >3 in 42/68 (62%) and <1 in 16/68. The authors concluded that the children presented immunological and immunohistochemical alterations of the biopsies of their digestive tracts, and that there was a significant finding of lymphoid nodular hyperplasia, eosiophilinfiltration, and that prevalence of greater CD-4 than CD-8 cells in the inflammation of the intestinal wall demonstrated in favour of a Th2 type allergic reaction.
For the second one:

The third one is tougher to track down. The link given by Wakefield doesn't work. I found the following press release from Thoughtful House that seems to relate to it:
http://www.thoughtfulhouse.org/pr/053106.htm
and the Abstract from the conference:
http://www.autism-insar.org/docs/IMFAR2006_Program.pdf

The forth one is again hard to locate, the best I've done so far is the following summary:
