That the 'pinched nerve' I've had since Wednesday is really back labor. I don't see how it could be, because adjustments help it go away, but it does come back randomly. I have progressed a bit, from 3cm/90% to 5cm/100% (and a bulging sac) with no contractions.

Anyone had back labor? Does it really feel like a pinched nerve? Holy crow....I'll be annoyed if it has been contractions and I've been making them stop with adjustments lol!

I always felt my back labor right at the top of my bum in the sacrum area.

Ditto that - along with an ache across my lower back.

How encouraging to know that the early dilating is already done for you!!

Hopefully you'll be holding your baby soon!

I totally agree with the other ladies. Back labor is something you know you are having.

That's exactly where it has been, right across the top of my sacrum. I can't really get up and walk around, 1) my back hurts too much and 2) the head is sooo far down that I look like a cowboy with seriously bowed legs.

When I had back labor, the pain came and went as regularly as contractions; it was like the contractions were just pushing right at the sacrum, becoming more intense, then releasing when the contraction was over. There is a pattern, like labor.
A pinched nerve usually will refer pain down the leg, usually one or the other, not both. And though it may be in a pattern, the pattern is usually related to the position you are in or the movement you are making (bending, twisting, extending back, etc) and not related to regular contractions (ie happening every 15 minutes or so).
If an adjustment gives you relief, my guess would be that it is NOT back labor. You know, there may be more aching into the sacrum with pregnancy, ligaments are looser, the SI joints are shifting. It may not necessarily be a nerve, but still musculoskeletal. Back labor is the result of uterine contractions pushing some hard part of the baby against the sacrum. IMHO, what you have going on doesn't sound like back labor- but maybe DH was trying to be encouraging?!
Good luck! I hope you get rid of the back pain and get going on more contractions soon!
