every hour or so at night...i'm so TIRED!

my son is now 15.5 months. he has been waking up every hour-2 hours at night...even during the day when we nap... i remember my dd waking frequently too...i think it stopped when she was about 2.

i am trusting that my ds will grow out of this but i hope its SOON. this is EXHAUSTING but i'm not willing to cut him off and wean him. i want him to wean himself when HE is ready. my dd nursed til she was 4.5 years old. she loved her mommy milk too.

i've tried the advice on kellymom and it doesn't work. (the whole taking my boob out of his mouth when he's doing that fluttering motion and then putting my finger on his chin...) it only upsets him. he cries and fusses and wants boob.

sooo...what do i do? go thru this until he stops waking me so often? ugh.

not to mention ds is now in toddler mode............................sigh.

I sympathise .... my last child was rarely ill but over the last 3 weeks she's had two ear infections and one molar out .... she's now waking up to 6 times a night to breasfeed (had dropped to 2 day time short sessions only since last summer)

can't offer any solution but I hear you ... am a bit past 40 and feel SO tired too (don't have the same stamina as a younger mom !!!!!)

Have you tried offering him a cup of water at night before offering the breast?

Sometimes it's OK to let a toddler fuss a bit while you hold and comfort him. If you're feeling "nursed out" and he just wants to suck and suck and suck, it's OK to set limits based on what your body can handle, even if he's not happy about it.

Has he been doing this a long time, or is this something new? If it's new, he could be teething. If it's been going on since birth, it could be a sign of a food allergy/sensitivity.

I'm looking forward to it, but like someone who just posted, I'm also sort of facing this "OHMYGOSHthere's going to be a BABY in the house again" and realizing what all we need to consider (changing table? where?!?!).

Also her head hasn't ever left the up position, so I'm still not even convinced I'll get to birth vaginally. That's not negative thinking, just part of the experience.

My youngest is 2 and does this when she is teething or just not feeling well. It is so hard on mama but does pass. And like Ruthla said, if it get's to be more than your body can handle, for your own sake you should occassionaly set a limit and just comfort him. I know for me when it just goes on and on my skin begins to crawl and I just get so full of tension. Remember to take care of your own needs, as well. (((Hugs)))

yes, he's always been like that...i think its gas...and/or a dairy allergy, maybe??? hmmm. i'm going to tell the dr. tonight i want a food allergy test done. they always seem reluctant to do this. i want it done. period. something is up. he was fine for a while and had solid poops, yet still gas as usual at night when it seems harder to get out laying down...thus, the discomfort.

what else could it be??? i posted this in CLW as i do not wish to wean him or cut him off in any way. it is such a comfort for him...not so much for me (!!!) but he's worth it. he obviously needs this right now...
