I think a couple things....
#1 If the cost to profit margin is low then the average factory farmer is not going to jump at this chance, so I think someday down the road we may see the FDA making this a forced requirement for them while now it's just an option...whihc is rather typical of how vaxes become part of the mainstream.... gov't desides it's best and WHAMMO! you gotta do it.
#2 This is the big problem with the way we farm meat nowadays...in case anyone doesn't already know...grass fed beef cattle don't develop the kind of Ecoli we can get. The natural fodder keeps their bellies at a Ph that does not harbor the Ecoli humans can contract. The Ecoli they can get and pass on from being grass fed is killed by the high Ph of our stomachs. BUT... in the common farming done now, they are grain fed which changes their stomachs natural ph making them able to harbor the kind of Ecoli our stomach acids cannot kill, thus sicker humans..... In truth if we want to avoid this situation altogether we should stop factory farming and let the animals return to traditional grazing... but it's just like everything else we do now... don't go to the root of the problem just find a way to numb the problem and keep on trucking down a path to destruction. Sorry, a little
but interesting info nonetheless...

This is reminiscent of the history of cowpox vaccine. It will not be for long that an E. coli vaccine will be included in the immunization schedule for humans.
