It was a girl! Audrey Rae Stone was born at 7:58AM Thursday March 12th, 4 days past her due date. She is 8lbs even and 21 in, and had apgar scores of 9 and 10. She has been nursing non stop ever since.
Birth story:
I had contractions Tuesday night, but they never got painful were gone when I woke up. It started up the same Wednesday night and I went to bed thinking they would stop again, but I woke up at 1am with painful contractions 5min apart. I bwoke up DH at 3am as they got more painful. The contractions stayed at 5min the whole time I was in labor, but I started having mini ones in between them. We got to the birth center at 5:30 and I was 8cm.
: My midwife filled the tub and it was wonderful to be in there. I started feeling the urge to push around 6:30. I had a lip for what seemed like forever but I couldn't stop pushing, so I got on the bed and she held it back while I pushed until it was gone. I moved between the tub, toilet, and birthing stool, but ended up having her on my back in bed because the midwife was trying to figure out why there was so much blood. She thought it possibly was the placenta detaching. Labor was 7 hours total!
I ended up having a 3rd degree tear. My midwife said it was a very unusual pattern and she called her back up OB to meet us at the ER to do the repair. I freaked out when he started examining me and he couldn't do the numbing shots with me so sensitive, so he said we would have to be admitted to the hospital so I could be put out. Since I had eaten, I would have to wait and do it that night. My midwife suggested first we try some Demerol to calm me down, then use a perineal block (I think) to get me semi numb so he could do the shots. While he was gone, she told me they were going to try, and that it would be two minutes of bad pain, then I could be home within the hour. I kept thinking of the baby and being there with her overnight. I made it through the procedure, over 30 stitches. DH and I had no one to help with the baby, so she went along with us to the ER. I found it hilarious that our first NIP experience was at 4 hours old in the waiting room. DH held Audie in the room while they were doing the repair, patting my arm with his free hand.
Recovery is going great. DH is taking good care of me. I am absolutely in love with the baby.

I have to ask who/which hopsital you went to for backup
My second delivery was a bit traumatic (vacuum) and I ended up with over 100 stitches. When the postpartum nurses came to check on me, they would say "oh, YOU're the one who got all those stitches." Apparently, people were talking about me.

: She is just beautiful!
Heehee. Anyway, congratulations!
