Do you ever feel like the only baby wearer? - Page 2

I wore DS everywhere until he was about 6 months. Now it's easier just to carry him because his itching eczema makes him squirm so much it's hard to get him in the sling, lol! But yeah, sometimes I feel like the only one doing it.

I don't see too many babywearers around here, but saw a DAD with a wee one in a sling last week at a sushi bar. The baby was itty-bitty.....couldn't have been more than a few weeks old.

I bought two carriers (Snugli and Baby Bjorn) from a woman down the street from me -- and she had made her own mei tai.

Imagine that! A babywearer in the middle of nowhere, Maine!

I rarely ever see people babywearing around here. The few times I have, they have been wearing Baby Bjorn, Snugli, or a Peanut Shell. I never see slings or wraps.

I haven't worn my baby out in public yet, but she's only 9 days old. I tried putting her in her Sleepy Baby Wrap a few days ago, but since she was already fussy she wasn't having it. I may try again today after she is fed & changed. The wrap kind of swallows her right now.

I live south of Seattle and have only seen two other babies wrapped in my two years of knowing about babywearing. I have nver seen a mei tai though! There are lots of moms I see on the bus or the mall with snuglies or bjorns. I know there are lots of babywearers in Seattle but I never have the time to make it to a meet up!

My fav comment was in a bookstore in Dallas. A Somali woman saw me carrying DD on my back and said "I love the way you tied your wrap. It looks like the way they do it in my country." Then she told me she saw a lot of people carrying children on their fronts, and she mimed the way the bjorn carriers fit with obvious disapproval.
