Shows like L&O try to bring up serious issues in a serious dramatic way, often present two sides of the issue, and inform us somewhat about our legal rights. Like last week's show, showed inside the real UN first time a tv show was allowed in there and dealt with the actual subject of how to ppl get so hardened to the suffering of others, why in childhood they are trained like the "Warlord" to inflict suffering onto others before others get them. This raised a very SERIOUS issue of children being forced into soldiering and young girls being violently attacked. It really happens. It was a very hard episode to watch. Nothing funny about it. Sometimes it seems more like perp training 101. How not to get caught. : But last Tuesday's episode with the "devil" was very thought provoking.

Show like family guy-90% of the time it isn't funny to me. It's a lot of toilet humor and I just don't go for that. Like tonight I come into the living room with my dinner and see 4 cartoon characters vomiting what looks like pea soup on a commercial, doesn't really make me want to watch the show. For some reason my dh thinks that is the funniest thing. Course he doesn't have to clean up kid and dog yakk does he??? I'm probably overly sensitive to puke based on my experiences with KID puke! There are some things no one wants to see.

My kids saw the musical episode with the prom night dumpster baby. Teen pregnancy that ends in abandoned babies... Also not funny to me but apparently a very catchy tune. There are quite a few toilet babies one of them born right here in my hometown.

I did not think of Stewie and Lois's breastfeeding relationship as a good example. The kid said something about her force feeding him her breast. not very pro-breastfeeding IMHO. Doesn't he also want to Kill Lois? Talk about a messed up attachment.

Peter sleeping with Lois's mom also very gross.

First, when Lois tried to wean, Stewie went to extreme measures to get "the good stuff" so I highly doubt she's forcing it on him.

Second, it's not that he wants to kill her, he just wants her to not be alive any longer... On a more serious note, he has on a couple of occasions come to a brief understanding that Lois dead may not be exactly what he wants. Personally I feel it's used as a way to illustrate the frustration of being internally independent, but externally dependant. Since Lois is primary caregiver, it's understandable that his frustration at the undesired dependency that comes from being a one year old is directed at his perceived captor.
