i wonder if it's a thing from the US? i lived in two latin american countries, and it was common for parties to begin right after school, so the host family would hire a bus to transport all the 15-20 kids to the party venue.
there would be some adult help, like grandma, big siblings and/or people specifically hired to set up activities for the kids/magician/puppet show/whatever
