Anyone have an normal HSG?

I had an HSG on Friday - the doctor performing the tests said everything was open an clear. I have done 2 rounds of clomid in the fall. I see my OB on the 25th but was just wondering - what were the next steps for those who had clear tubes?

I would bet quite a few women have normal hsg. As far as the std procedure, from what I've seen, is: clomid w/intercourse or iui then onto injectibles with iui, then ivf. However, I would probably recommend you go see a fertility specialist at this point. You've been trying for over a year and done testing with an ob. If no cause is know, then a referral to a specialist should be considered.

My hsg's have been fine, our issues are male factor. If you haven't had a sperm anaylsis done, get one asap.

Good luck and to you, if you're here, you probably need one

I'm going through testing right now. All have come back normal.

-bloodwork on CD3
-HSG
-transvaginal ultrasound
-sperm analysis
-review of history
-physical exam (check thyroid, etc.)

Because all of the tests have come back normal they told me the first round of treatment is clomid with IUI.

They also mentioned that your tubes are dilated for about 2 months after the HSG and if your husband has a good sperm analysis you should take advantage of this time to TTC the old fashioned way.

Ok so the doctor office called and said the HSG was normal. I was to meet with her on the 25th but she said go ahead and try this cycle and if we are not pg to call when I get my period and we will go from there.

DH has had several SAs that have all come back normal. All my blood work to this point has been ok. So, I guess we will try.

I was a little frustriated by that knowing if I wait to call till I get my period - then my options might be a little limited for that cycle (I.E. if she puts me back on Clomid - not sure I can get in to see her and get the RX in time) but I will trust her for now.

If you call on CD1, you should be able to get your prescription in time. I did that all the time and they were used to processing insurance, writing the prescription and calling it in, all within a day. Of course, this was a fertility clinic, so all their patients needed that. Good luck.

If all your tests have come back normal I would go and see a RE. My RE indicated to me that clomid alone is not a big benefit to those who ovulate but is better when they combine it with IUI. I don't know how much truth there is in that... Just my 2 cents.

If I were you, I would probably try a couple clomid cycles and then 2 inject cycles. If you aren't pg by then, I'd ask about a lap. I had a normal hsg, did 4inject cycles, then had a lap. I had endo and scarring in both tubes and in my uterus. An hsg won't pick up endo since it's web like. The fluid flows right through it. We wasted a lot of $$$ on injects/iui when I should have listened to my RE and had the lap done sooner than I did. Good luck!
