One Size Diapers Too Small, Now What?

I've been using Mother Ease One Size diapers on DD for the past year or so in conjunction with pre-folds. For the last few months we've only used the OS dipes since she's outgrown her pre-folds and won't lay down or hold still for most diaper changes.

She is 14 months and now weighs around 24 or 25 pounds, 98% for height. The one size dipes, which are supposed to last till potty training, are getting a bit small and I worry they won't last till the summer.

Would you recommend getting larger diapers, or just crossing our fingers and hoping that potty learning kicks in this summer? If you would get larger diapers, which would you recommend? Snaps are a must, but that's about it.

TIA

Maybe check out the EC sub-forum? If you can work on some level of potty learning you might at least be able to get away with fewer diapers.

Sorry...no ideas on which bigger diapers would be best.

Are they too short in the rise or too small in the waist? If it's the waist I'd just wait it out, she won't grow as fast in the next year as she has done in the past and it's likely her waist/butt will stay about the same size or even slim up a bit once she starts really moving. MEOS fit my almost 3-year-old still--she's petite but about 28lbs and should be taller than your DD.

If it's the rise then I'd try something like ME Sandy's size 2 or ToddlerEase, they are pretty high rise and would probably get you through to potty learning.

HTH!

What size prefolds are you using? Could you just switch to toddler? I agree with PP about judging width vs length... If the rise is too short, chances of holding out aren't very good.

Thanks for the quick replies.

The OS diapers are very a tight fit in the waist and the rise is barely o.k. at the moment... but she is an incredible grower.

As for prefolds... we started with some local WAHM prefolds in newborn size. When she outgrew those we unsuccessfully searched for a larger replacement. The WHAM's largest size is crazy long, but not wide enough to fasten around DD. And since she started crawl she hasn't stuck around long enough to fasten a prefold.

I'll look into the toddler ME. I just hate the trial and error part of CD... and I had thought all that was behind us.

Call ME and ask about extenders. I'm pretty sure they make them. HTH

I personally would bank on her slimming down a bit like toddlers usually do and keep the ME. As for the prefolds, check out green mountain diapers because they carry different sizes of prefolds than other stores. These prefolds give you the option to move up in size for around the waist without getting all that extra length you hate. Check out the red edge pf

I had the chunkiest baby and used MEOS until they wouldnt snap anymore. But we just stopped breastfeeding at almost 2 yrs old and they fit again. I am so happy because I love them. I was hoping that potty training was around the corner, but nope!
