Castile soap acne

I just read here about trying honey to cleanse my acne-prone face, which I will try tonight.
I was wondering though do castile soaps, like Dr Bronner's, cause breakouts/clog pores.
I had been using an unatural product on my face that contained salycylic acid, but that is a no-no now that I am prenant again. It had been working great but I have gotten a couple spots now that I am not using it.
BTW the main thing that improved my acne, just a note to any of you sufferers out there, I give up dairy. I used to get bad cystic acne.

thanks for the dairy info-i find that i feel really crappy when i have dairy, my respiratory system really takes a hit! anyway, i have no advice about the castile sopa, but i do want to say that i tried the honey and didnt like it, but i then switched to raw honey, and i honestly think it made a difference for me. so i vote raw honey!

I've been using honey + a little baking soda for a couple weeks now-- my face cleared!!! I forgot to grab the honey before the shower yesterday, and used regular castile soap on my face. I now have a huge zit on my cheek

It may be totally coincidence, since I'm also on my period, BUT it's the first new pimple since I started washing with honey+bs.

I tried the honey last night. It didn't do anything for me. I have VERY oily skin, and honey (it was raw) would not cut the grease my skin still felt dirty.

I used to do a honey and asprin mask that was really great, not natural, though. But the salicylic acid in asprin and most acne products is what I am trying to avoid now that I am pregnant.
Maybe I'll try it with baking soda today, but it seems I read somewhere about bs upseting the pH balance of your skin by using it??

I have very oily skin also and if I dont have some kind of scrub my face seems oily and not clean after I wash with soap. Even scrubing it with a wash rag doenst get that clean feeling like a soap scrub will. Does the bs give a good scrub? Also isnt honey expensive? Has anyone compared the price of raw honey to their previous cleansing routine? I know the benefits would out weigh any cost but just wondering. And the no dairy makes me very sad. I have long since cut out my sugar in coffee and the thougth of no milk in it makes me

I've been scared to use castile soap to wash my face as I have very oily skin, and a lot of oils clog my pores and cause acne. You can try testing for comedogenicity inside your ear(s). I did this w/ coconut oil, and I got a huge zit within a day.

Usually acne, especially those cystic ones on the chin, indicates your liver not clearing out toxins especially estrogen. Make sure you eliminate all BPA-containing plastics and other xenoestrogenic products and foods (non-organic dairy would definitely contribute to this). My face started to clear up after this.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I take something called A-F Beta Food by Standard Process. Check out the literatures under Related Information. It does something good - my face cleared up even more, and my period that usually lasts for 7 days (last 2 days are annoying spotting) clear up in 5 days.

ETA: I get it from my chiropractor.

i wouldn't wash with the honey, i would mask with it. also, bs will make you break out if my experience and the nfo i received regarding it were correct. it broke me right out along with every other natural routine i have tried.

I used to have very oily skin, but I think that washing it too much was exacerbating the problem. I would strip away the oils, and my skin would work extra hard to make more. It took a little while, but eliminating soap has drastically improved my skin. It's not oily, and I very rarely have breakouts now. I now basically use only water on my face most of the time, using honey maybe once every three days.

If you really want to use soap, you could try African black soap. It's strong stuff, though, so I would dilute it. I used this before I totally switched to honey, and it definitely helped improve breakouts, though it didn't help with the oil problem.
