HIB vaccination lowering immunity

I know HIB can lower the immunity to HIB for about 5 days, thus giving a person who received a HIB vaccination susceptible to contracting HIB.

Do you think this is also true for other illness such as flue?

My DD came down with a fever of 102-105 for 5 days now, and after 3 days of her HIB shot. She was very healthy and happy and now she's ill with a terrible fever with no end in sight. She has been in bed for the last 2 days and wants to sleep all the time. Did the HIB vaccination lower my D's immunity and she caught the flu from outside (or from the HIB itself?)

Day 5 and she's still really sick and I am getting more worried every day.

Coincidence?

Honestly there is no way to know. The flu is so common and can really effect a small child that you may never trully know.

For now my advice would be to stop worry about the vaccinations for the time being and focus on making your LO better. They need that right now. Saddly you will never really know the answer to that.

I mean at 3 months when DD#2 suddenly was hospitalized for her flu and all the rest, I would have blambed the vaccination too had my child had it that day. The truth is you really don't know if she would have been sick anyway. I am not saying not or it is, just that there may never be a way to know forsure. People against vaccinations will say yes, those who are for vaccinations will say no. In the end who is to say who is right.

When she is better THEN you can look into everything else include vaccinations.

But for the time being you really need all your time and energy to help your LO.

I know its not what you want to hear, but you'll have a different mind set when she is better. You'll be calmer and more able to obsorb all the details.

I think ALL vaccinations challenge the immune system and can lower a child's resistance to picking up anything for a while, flu included.

There was a study done on the tetnus vaccine in the 1980's that showed that the t cells (cells that fight off infection) of a recently vaccinated person were equivelant to that of an AIDS patient for a period of time after the vaccine was administered.
