Bought a New BBT Thermometer

Target brand, and it records temps to 1/100th of a degree (which I didn't realize when I made the purchase, they should put that info on the packaging ). If I just want to record to a tenth of a degree do I need to worry about rounding up or down? Say 98.14 round down to 98.1 and 98.17 round up to 98.2. Or can I just record the first number after the decimal and not worry about that hundredth degree, making either temp 98.1 regardless?

I don't really want to go buy another thermometer, can't really afford that anyway. There may be a fairly obvious answer to this question but I've been up since 5, leave me alone : .

I think it doesn't matter which way you round as long as you are consistent and do it the same way everytime. I round down from 1-4, and 5-9 I round up (I was taught that sometime in middle school). Since the temp shift is relative rounding shouldn't affect it. :
Or you could chop the hundredth off - the temp shift is usually much bigger than 1 degree, so it wouldn't matter.

Thanks! Yeah, after looking around at a page here and there, round or chop, doesn't matter .
