Homeschool spotlight?

I would love to see these up again. I'd especially like to see any change between old spotlighted parents and how they are doing now. Anyone interested?

Link to original Homeschool Weekly Spotlight thread and blogs: http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=318434

If you are interested in being in the weekly Homeschool spotlight, please PM me or say for sure in this thread that you would like to be involved. I will start the list below and we can begin March 30th to give people some time to join in and gain interest.

When it is your week, start a new thread in the Learning at Home and Beyond forum with the title:
Homeschool Spotlight: __(your username)__ . Most people start the first post as the introduction and answer the intro questions and then blog through their week.

Here are people interested so far:

In the first post, here is a quick introduction questionnaire (thanks to Annettemarie):
What are your kids ages and names/pseudonyms?
Tell us a little about your family.
How long have you been homeschooling? Is there a story behind it? (You can just link to tell me your story if you want!)
Does your homeschool have a name or a mission statement?
What is your general homeschooling philosophy?
Do you use a curriculum?
Do you or your children have any special interests or hobbies that influence your homeschooling?
What is your typical daily routine? weekly routine?
How do you evaluate progress?
Do you have any special methods/tips for planning? household organization? storage? record keeping?

Anyone else?

I miss them too! I'd like to see the thread restarted!
Well, perhaps it's up to us to restart it! I don't know how families were chosen to post in the old thread, but how about we start with us? And we could PM moms who posted to the original thread and ask them to post updates on this new thread. What do you think?
I think that's a great idea!
Sounds good to me.

Moved post to "Tell Us Your Story." :

That sounds great. Should we start a new thread with what to post and a list of who gets what week?

Here is the original thread: http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=318434

Annettemarie's list of questions:

What are your kids ages and names/pseudonyms?
Tell us a little about your family.
How long have you been homeschooling? Is there a story behind it? (You can just link to tell me your story if you want!)
Does your homeschool have a name or a mission statement?

The links to the original bloggers are on there. I can start pm'ing. I think I'll start with Annettemarie to see what she thinks first since she started it.

I'd love to see this brought back! It just needs to be someone else doing it, LOL! But I'd be happy to bump up/reopen old threads if links are PM'd me.

Great idea. I would love to hear from some veterans how things are going now.
sounds fun
Well, I'd be happy to go first. Just let me know what you want me to do. Reading my old thread brought back some great memories!

I loved your spotlight, annettemarie, and can't wait to read what you're up to now!

I was going to pm you but my dh took my computer to band practice.

Should we reopen the original thread or start a new one? I would be happy to run this one.
Then it's totally up to you. I'm good either way. Just tell me what you want and I'll do your bidding.

Did no one notice that I posted our story 7 hours ago? Since the OP posted about this almost a week ago and there were only a few responses, I just decided to start to get the ball rolling.

What about people posting their stories without being "chosen"? That way, everyone would get a chance (more than 52 people a year) and no one would have to be really hands-on to organize and monitor everything. Perhaps the thread would stay active longer if it requires no more maintenance than any other thread. Just an idea.

I saw your story. The problem is that not many people actually sign up to do the spotlight or decide to do it, so doing more than 52 a year is not a huge concern.

There is the Tell Us Your Story thread stickied, but the Spotlight is a week-long blog for a "day in the life" kind of deal. I think a homeschool-along would be a wicked cool idea, too. We could do something like that seperately, but the spotlight focuses on one person at a time.

It doesn't take a lot of organization and monitoring on my part. The person whose turn it is just makes their thread and you can read, comment, question, etc.

I can't get ahold of Chalupamom or UnschoolnMa (pm box is full!).

Ah, I was thinking of the Tell Us Your Story thread. Sorry.
Hey kittywitty, maybe we could even do both- a new spotlight and a classic spotlight thread.
