Is it worth it to make my own AIO's?

I have DH begrudgingly on board to CD, but have agreed to use AIO's to make it as easy as possible for him. Is it worth it make my own? I have a sewing machine, but am definately a beginner. Would making my own save me enough money to make it worth my time?

In my opinion, it is worth it, if you have a style you like. The problem I had with the patterns I found is that the aio's took so stinking long to dry.

You might do better with a pocket diaper. If you stuff it before dh needs it, it goes on just like a sposie.

With the normal costs of new diapers, it is worth it to sew. I made a few practice ones with recycled material from around the house to make sure I knew what I was doing before I used my real fabric.

Another great option is to look for used, if you're ok with that. You can sometiems find things inexpensively and it will save you the time and the learning curve involved in sewing your own.

I agree. I did make AIOs but rarely use them because they simply don't try. I am all for pockets now. I stuff them as soon as they are all dry so they are pretty easy. I like the mama bird pattern, and the celtic cloths pattern (this has worked best for me).

And if your "is it worth it" refers to the cost, I want to add that it *can* be cheaper to make your own vs buying, but that has not been my experience! Diaper making is addictive!

I'd use pul pockets and just have them ready to go at the changing table. They're really easy, and wash and dry well. I honestly can't imagine using aios. I had trouble with my fitteds getting all the way clean and dry, and they didn't have a waterproof layer.
