Leaving the diaper on during exams - Page 2

Fi, I find your experience in the U.K. quite shocking. After all, Gairdner's article was published in 1949, and that basicaly spelled the end of routine circs. So after 60 years I would have hoped that they were better trained.
My sister lives in England, and when she was expecting her first I brought the subject up, just in case, and was delighted when she did not know what the word 'circumcision' meant!

My son only ever had one visit with his diaper off. the doctor checked his hips and checked if his testes were descended. They even weight the babies with a dry diaper.

Thanks for the info and insight, everyone. I think from now on I'll just insist that we leave his diaper on the whole time, even during weighing. I don't really care if they think I'm a jerk or crazy or whatever. It's much more important to me that his body is protected from injury than that his ped thinks I'm not .

I think you will be much more relaxed at Dr. appt. if you do that I know now that I have made the decision to not allow genital checks (for now) I dont worry as much at visits.
