PCOS advise for someone not TTC

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

a friend of mine has PCOS and asked me what she could do naturally to counteract all of the excess testosterone. I told her about vitex, but I am actually not sure if vitex is good for PCOS overall, or just for someone ttc. She is not in a relationship and not trying to get pg, but she doesn't have insurance and would really like to deal with her problem naturally. She is having a lot of health problems right now and thinks that it is all related.

Any advice?

TIA! :

not natural, but metformin is what is typically given for PCOS. It's cheap (one of the $4 meds) and most MD's don't think twice to give it out.

I feel so much better when I take it. I took it for over a year while not TTC. I lost some weight, too.

I'm not TTC but I'm doing vitex to regulate hormones, saw palmetto to reduce testosterone, cinnamon to help sugar metabolism, chromium for metabolism and cod liver oil for vit D. I think it's working out really well for me. My cycle seems to have reacted really well and I've lost a lot of weight.

Diet is really the best thing you can do for PCOS, whether you're TTC or not. It's not a quick fix by any means, and it takes a lot of will power and quite a bit of tweaking to find what your body needs, but it works for a lot of people.
