My stupid dilemma

With this one, I really just want to buy what worked for us last time up front and not try anything new unless there's some reason we have to.

I like front-snapping covers best in theory because Velcro sticks to stuff and side snaps aren't very intuitive. (Pull-ons are just a pain IMHO.) But, in practice Mother-ease covers are the best at not leaking, and they don't make a front-snapping one; plus, if we can afford it I'd like to get some more MEOS, and the Bummis and Blue Penguin snap covers that I like don't fit very well over MEOS.

So I'm trying to decide between settling for Velcro or side snaps when I would rather have front snap, or settling for non-Mother-ease diapers and covers when I know I'm going to : myself for that the first time the new kid gets diarrhea.

What do you think?

Oh, the dilemma in the world of cloth.

I think you should have a nice cup of decaf tea and re-approach it again in a week. There are so many choices out there, you may end up choosing something else after looking a bit.
Unless you need to make a quick decision then I would say velcro -- its quick, good fit. Or mix it up and get some of each.

good luck -- I am absolutely no help this morning. need more coffee.

No help to you at all, but I found that the diapers I liked best with my son aren't the ones I like to use as much with my daughter. She is 8 months now; at this same age, I was mostly using Bumkins AIOs and MEOS with MEAF with my son, and premium prefolds and wool at night. With my daughter, we mostly stick with trifolded infant prefolds and Bummis. If anyone had told me I would mostly be using prefolds and Bummis with my second, I would have thought they were nuts. What do you have left? I would try out whatever you already have before buying anything new.

I like the way bleu penguin has solved the sticking problem with their SposoEasy AIOs. On that same thought, one could get a strip of velcro at the dollar store, cut it up and stick them on the hard side of the velcro tabs before the wash and remove them until next wash. all you're left with during wash is the soft parts of the velcro which don't adhere together.

As far as choosing, I can't be much help, I use the AIOs mentioned above with velcro.

We don't have much--4 MEOS, 6 flats, and a dozen prefolds that are DSQ but so thin you'd have to double them up on a baby over a month old. We have a handful of Rikki Wraps but not enough to go 2 days between washings, and I gave away all our snap wraps. *sigh*

Oh wow, I see. I didn't get rid of anything between babies. Well definitely get some more MEOS. I don't "love" the MEAF but they work so perfectly with the MEOS. Or you could try out some WAHM front snapping covers; maybe one of them will work with the MEOS?

I had to look to see what other front-snapping covers are out there and this was the only one I saw that looks wide enough for MEOS:
http://homepage.mac.com/hunnybuns/802orderformpul.html . MEOS are so wide in the crotch, nothing really works well with them. We used Bummis and wool pull-ons successfully with them, but you don't like pull-ons, so that's out.

I used Berry plush covers with my MEOS but again these are side snap.

I may just go ahead and get MEAF's. I like them, and as long as I can instruct whoever else is using them as to how not to put them on upside down or backwards, I think they'll be okay. Dh even said that he likes them better than Velcro covers.
