Sick with worry

I know there are already a lot of informative threads about Hib so I am not trying to make you all tell me again. I more just need support. I have already postponed DS's PC and Hib appointment by one week. Now his appointment is in 1/2 hour and I am still feverishly researching on the internet. I want to wait until I am sure but I honestly don't know if I will ever be. There is so much contradictory info out there. I am almost certain I do not want to get PC today but Hib...ugh..sigh. what about Hib. I think these conjugate vaxes are so dangerous. I think the people making them are playing with fire and we should leave well enough alone. Maybe I would feel differently if I had a child who died from Hib meningitis. The biggest reason to me to not get these shots is that I feel like I would be taking on the worry of short and long term vax reactions (including increase risk of Hib infection for 5 days and antibiotic resistant ear infections) without really getting to worry any less about him getting scary meningitis or other crazy stuff as the info on insidevaccines.com says.

I know I don't sound ready to do it this morning but I get myself into this place where I worry that if I don't get him Hib today, he will get sick tomorrow and it will be all my fault.

To top it off my ped (obviously) is pushing. More importantly, DH really wants to get him the vaxes. He is really concerned about menigitis and the other bad complications of both diseases and he doesn't think the info at insidevaccines is trustworthy.

WHERE DO YOU FIND TRUSTWORTHY NONBIASED INFORMATION WRITTEN BY PROFESSIONALS?

This is why we decided to stop thinking and just go with Dr. Sears which okay, may be better than your mainstream ped, but come on the guy reccommends crazy Rotavirus on his "selective" schedule.

I just don't know what to do without DH's support. He will go with whatever I want in the end but what if DS gets bad
Hib?

I should add that DS has already had one round of PC and HIB. He did have a fussy couple of days including his first and only nursing strike two days later. Coincidence? If only we knew.

My head is just spinning. Sorry so long. Just need to talk to somebody who understands. Thanks for listening.

Their is ALWAYS a bias; you just need to identify it.

Inside Vaccines seems good at posting its sources; your dh should go to the source and look it up (non-vaxers encourage that; the CDC says 'shut up and vax.') Inside Vaccines uses medical journals and other mainstream sources, it's just that their conclusions are different than the mainstream.

Hilary Butler also has some help posted about how to do your own searches: http://www.beyondconformity.org.nz/resources

This is a good video:
Vaccines-The Risks, the Benefits, the Choices DVD, By Sherri J. TENPENNY

There is also a link in my signature that compares today's vaccine shedule with that of 1980. I was born in '76 and I only had about 12 vaccine my whole childhood; my sister was born in '63 and had even fewer. I don't think my parents had any, though I suppose smallpox is a possibility.

Here are some questions to answer for yourself in deciding about vax.

1. Name of the disease
2. Description of the disease
3. Length of time from initial infection to end of all symptoms
4. Infectious period
5. Normal symptoms of the disease
6. Known serious consequences of the disease
7. Proportion of persons infected developing serious consequences
8. Transmission route of the disease
9. Prevalence of the disease
10. Treatments of the disease and efficacy of those treatments
11. Relevant research about the disease
12. Name of the vaccine
13. Company that makes the vaccine
14. Contents of the vaccine
14A. The significance of whether or not the vaccine is live
15. History of development of the vaccine
16. Known side-effects of the vaccine and rate of incidence of those side-effects
17. Possible side-effects not yet acknowledged by the vaccine maker
18. Relevant research into the vaccine
19. How effective is the vaccine at preventing the disease?
20.What is the vaccine meant to do? (Many vaccines are not meant to prevent infection or transmission).
21.Number of cases reported each year.
22.Number of deaths reported each year from the vaccine and natural disease.

It sounds like you should wait on Hib or any other vaccines until you can do more research and be absolutely comfortable in your decision. If you keep the appt and you do decide NOT to do vaxes today, you should be very firm in telling the doc that you are still researching and it is NOT up for discussion at this time. If he gives you a hard time, leave. It is your child, not his. You did not hire him to harass you.

I'm sorry your DH is not more supportive. I guess I'm not understanding why he thinks insidevaccines is hokey, they reference ALL their information (unlike the CDC).

Because they don't put names on the articles. We don't know who is writing what. He is a very critical thinker and logic minded guy. We complement each other well. In this case our fears are manifesting in different ways. He says we can't be sure of anything so we should just vax. I say we can't be sure of anything so we should not vax. I don't think he is really okay with vaxing. Just scared.

I canceled the appointment. I'm glad I did.

A lot of us don't tell our parents or friends we don't vax because of the social consequences, those authors have the same problems along with possible professional consequences as well About insidevaccines.com.

Perhaps you should get Hilary's book; one of the things she covers is what happens to people who go against the vaxing mainstream.

It took over three years before my dh actually put the effort into researching for himself because he didn't like my sources...and he came to the same conclusion I did.

That is not logical . Vaccines are DRUGS, and like all drugs can have unintended and possibly fatal consquences; he can't just shrug his shoulders and say "stuff happens." The default is to NOT vax.

And is your dh utd on HIS vaccine schedule?

I am so surprised he trusts the people who make the drugs and who make their business from selling them. Why would they want to keep anyone healthy can cut their profits or go out of business?

Your dh, if he is really a critical thinker, should think everything through. How did he come to trust pharmaceutical manufacturere that much?

Does your dh know the ingredients in vaccines? Please go check them out. There is no way anyone will want that in their child's body if they know what they actually are. They are all cancer causing and neurotoxins that would never get into a body natrually.

Good for you and good for your baby.

I have three grandchildren, two of them had no vaccines, the oldest had some. None ever had an illness were we thought a certain vaccine could have prevented it.

One had a nasty flu just last week but he sailed through it just fine. He actually slept through it with a fever of 104 for most of the 5 days. After that he made a remarkable recovery and now 3 days later he is running around like nothing happened. The fever boosted his immune system to prevent other more serious diseases such as cancer or diabetes or who knows what.

You should learn how to heal yourself when you are sick and to be your own doctor.

imo insidevaccines is an excellent blog with reliable information in regards to vaccines. They have sources with everything they post unlike the CDC.

You need to be more confident about a decision than frantically searching the web 1/2 before an appointment.

All I can say is keep reading, search YOUR soul, not someone else's, and try to figure it out... it takes forever btw if you aren't sure.

HOw would you feel if you did nothing and your child got ill? When so many of these vaxes really do not cause critical problems. I am not saying reactions don't occur, or long term effects might not exist, but MOST children are fine with them. But how would you feel if you did give one and YOUR child was one of the children that wasn't mostly fine?

Also, keep track of HI cases in the news... 5 more being reported in Pennsylvania. Not sure of the details yet.. hopefully more will come out soon.

Hey everyone. Thanks for info. I love this site. DH is just scared. We are doing more research and talking a lot and we are very much together on it. I know that in my life I tend to think that other people have the answers. I realize that I have been looking all over the place for somebody else to give me the answers. I know now that this will never happen. My intuition and feelings on the matter (while it may sound hokey to some) are the best tools I have for making decisions. I have been researching vaccines since before I got pregnant. I am definitely not making uninformed decisions. My last minute searches and posts are just an attempt tp find somebody who will tell me what to do. After the research I have been doing I am seriously considering no more vaxes for a long time. I am his MOTHER and my intuition could save his life. I do believe this. I know I need to get more confident. I'm getting there.

My thinking is, they can always get vaccinated, but they can't get un-vaccinated. If I wasn't 100% comfortable with it I would just wait. You can always do it later if it feels right. Or you can just wait long enough until it is their decision to make. 18 years doesn't seem like too long to procrastinate if you ask me. (that's kinda a joke)

Have you seen the lecture series called Vaccines by Dr. Sherri Tenpenny? This cleared up a lot of confusion surrounding vaccines for me. I highly reccomend it.

Video - Dr. David J. Graham, MD, MPD - Associate Director of Science, FDA Office of Drug Safety, talking to the Senate

Very interesting! After this, I don't know how anyone can even trust the pharmaceutical companies.

I am glad you listen to your gut instinct. In my opinion there is not other source as reliable when it comes to your children. We decided to no longer vaccinate based on that very deep and instinctive feeling. Then we started doing research and kicked ourselves for not going with gut instinct right away.

And here is the video I was actually looking for - Vaccine Nation
