I use toothsoap or tooth chips, sometimes I'll alternate with Vicco powder or paste.

My teeth have never been so clean!

My favorite is this Kiss my Face toothpaste. I buy it at Albertson's.

The kids use Weleda and DH prefer's Tom's, so we buy those brands too.

we also take high vitamin cod liver oil with high vitamin butter oil as well, and the combo has allowed our teeth to remineralize and cavities to heal.
Yay for glycerine, fluoride and sodium sulfate free:
Could you expound a bit on how you remineralized your teeth and caused your cavities to heal? This is something I'm interested in.

Healing tooth decay is easy..
You need to start taking High Vitamin Butter Oil, along with High vitamin Cod Liver Oil,( Blue Ice brand) start drinking raw milk, and never eat refined foods!
Whew!!!
Thats all I did. Weston A Price found that he could readily reverse decay with the butter oil, which has high amounts of K2 in it.
Adding in the raw milk, gives you calcium that your body recognizes.
Processed foods are the root of the decay, Pun intended.
You might enjoy spending time in the Dental forum. Its right below the foods forums.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Jason's powersmile for tubed paste.

Or, my homemade one.
Baking soda, salt & peppermint oil or tea tree oil.

Put it into film containers if you still have some lying around, with the cap on. Add water to make a paste and put the lid on. Or, if your vessel has no lid, do not add water and just dip a wet toothbrush into the dry mix.

Make my teeth very clean, and fresh.

I have been making my own toothpowder for a couple months now. Basically the same mix everyone is posting. I put xylitol in mine too, but next batch I think will have more.

The taste is hard to get used to, but my teeth have never felt so clean.

I woke up one day last week and couldn't stand the idea of the taste of it, so I dug out an old tube of crest. My teeth felt funny all day, and not at all clean. That stuff just leaves a film. Never again!

I had used toms of maine for years, after using one tube and realizing that I wasn't getting constant canker sores anymore. Every time I tried something else, the canker sores came back. When the grocery outlet (lol) stopped stocking it (it was $1.79), I looked up alternatives and found this toothpowder.

I love the film container idea, but I'm gonna take it a step further and put a hole in the top to sprinkle the powder onto the brush.

I used to use the silly strawberry Toms of Main for the kids. The one day I realized the non-fluoride and the fluoride versions looked EXACTLY alike and my daughter was using the one with fluoride. : I also noticed the SLS.

My 5 year old is VERY picky. There was a European brand of toothpaste I was using for her but our local store stopped carrying the strawberry (they only carry mint and rosemary). I bought a few other strawberry flavored natural toothpastes and she wouldn't use them.. said she tasted mint (she hates mint!) until Kiss My Face finally came out with a kids line. She will use this. I will have to check and see what else they put in it.. She does have bad teeth.. the worse of all my children. I am supposed to take her to a ped dentist because she hid under the table and wouldn't come out at the regular dentist. Sigh.

I have been told by the lady I get our raw milk from that I could reminerlize her teeth with calcium. I also read on the sunscreen threat that the Blue Ice Cod liver oil was good to keep you from burning. But what is butter oil? I use Kerry Gold Butter because I can't find raw butter and I don't really get enough cream from my milk to make it.. and the 2 times i have tried to make it it tasted sour. Kerry Gold is so far the best butter I have found.

I think I might try the toothpowder... but I don't know what to flavor it with that she might use.

Butter Oil is the oil that is seperated by centerfuge (sp) from the spring grass fed raw milk. Its very concentrated.
It is full of real vitamin K2, which is what heals cavities. Your milk lady is correct, Raw milk does remineralize, and it strengthens the bones as well.

pkay, i'm totally nuts but i've started using peppermint dr. bronners and my teeth actually feel clean not coated from th e glycerine.

for ds i found a tom's with no sls and it has xylitol and some fruit type flavouring, it also has flouride but i don't mind that topically. i'm hoping to get him onto the bronners if i can get the plain and do some clove eo in it. i've heard really good things about clove oil for teeth.

I don't mind fluoride (u and THEN o? I never noticed ), personally, but I can vouch for the effectiveness of soda and salt. Works like a charm to clean, sanitize and whiten. Never used xylitol... bleh, doesn't seem that super-effective and frankly, when you have that much soda, the sweetness really doesn't help, in my opinion.

However, getting a child to put that on her teeth is a different story.

Toms makes toothpaste with and without flouride. A lot of dentists are more familiar with the non-flouride containing versions and reflexively say "oh thats bad." I don't know that that is your dentists reason but that was my dentist's reaction. I pointed out that I used the flouride containing version and he said, "oh, then that is fine. Probably has less sugar."

In the past I used Toms and Jason but after reading a different thread I began to use Dr. Bs TTO soap. I use one squirt from the foamer I have hand soap in. My teeth have never felt cleaner and my gums bleed a lot less.

PaulaJoAnne, I've been spending time on the long thread in the dental forum. I've gotten a lot of info. Thanks. We have access to raw milk, cream, buttermilk, and cheese. Going to eat more of those and see how that works.

As for brushing teeth, I use Grandpa's Pine Tar soap and sometimes baking soda (though I've heard bs is too harsh to use every day).

I've heard that grass-fed raw butter is as good as butter oil, like its the same thing. Any input on that? Otherwise, I'd be happy to order some butter oil from Radiant Life if its any better than raw butter. I've been doing Traditional Foods/Weston A. Price guidelines with raw milk & butter and high vitamin cod liver oil for the past couple of years and my teeth have been doing great since then, even my dentist compliments on how healthy and nice my teeth are. Nutrient dense animal products really are what build strong healthy bodies and teeth

Anyway, back to the toothpaste topic, I know that people are saying Tom's of Maine isn't so great, but I don't think Jason is all that great either because Jason has carrageenan in it. Carrageenan causes cancer in lab animals.

I've personally been using just plain baking soda. I would like something more flavorful though. I just did a search on mountainroseherbs.com to see what they have and they have some homemade toothpaste recipes. I think I'll try the Citrust Mint Toothpaste--sounds yummy to me. Big reason for taking butter oil with the clo, is that you need the butterfat in order for the clo fats to absorbed properly.

If you do not have big issue with your teeth, then eating good butter and drinking raw milk with the clo is sufficient.
However, if you have diabetes which causes extra tooth trouble, or if you have a lot of deep rooted issue in the teeth, then the butter oil is needed.

You have to eat lots of butter to get the same Vit. K concentration as the butter oil has.
