My first contraction was at 4:30AM and I sent DH off to work and went about my business. All of my friends and birth team warned of long first labors and the importance of busying myself. I cleaned and dealt with contractions, which were coming every 2-3 minutes the entire day, until 1:45PM when my water broke. It was full of heavy meconium so I summoned DH and my midwife sent an assistant to monitor baby....I was still talking through contractions so everyone thought I was not very far along.
Contractions got very serious after my water broke and when the assistant arrived, she found that I was completely dilated with a little butt coming first. She didn't tell me though and waited on my midwife to arrive to confirm. My birth team all arrived very quickly and we debated about transferring, but we were afraid I would give birth in the car if we tried or most certainly be sectioned at the hospital.
I fought against pushing to let the baby descend on her own. This was the most difficult part of my labor. I skipped transition without ever knowing it happened and stayed in the pushing phase for over 3 hours because I actually wasn't pushing.
Her heart rate was wonderful the whole time and I am in awe of my body. I was aware and hearing every conversation and prayer around me. Her little butt emerged and then her legs and body and then (praise the LORD!) I got to push her head out quickly.

She was born 13 hours after my first contraction without a problem. A tiny 6 pounds, 13 ounces! Her daddy was still able to catch her and hold her while they suctioned her. I gave birth standing over the bed and into a full squat for my only push. We don't know when she turned....we all thought she was head down when I was checked just several days before she was born.
It was the most incredible and relatively easy birth! I am more than willing to chat if you are considering a vaginal breech birth and would like some support or information. Message me!
