won a wool soaker - what's the first thing to do?

I just won a wool soaker from ebay thinking I might try it out. I really didn't think I would win it as I didn't bid much. Anyway, all I know is what I've read here about having to use lanolin, and only washing in water (I think). Just curious, if you won a soaker on ebay, what's the first things you would do upon receiving it? I had actually in the meantime decided on buying a set of fleece soakers.

Where do you get lanolin?

lanolin can be found where other breastfeeding "tools" are found. Here is the one I use for my BF: Lansinoh Lanolin

I would hand wash it. Before I got woolwash I used a bar of kiss my face olive oil soap. Then I would lanolize it by disolving a tiny bit (pea sized) of lanolin in some really hot water, pour that into a sink filled w/ hot water I a bit of soap, let the water cool a bit, then turn the soaker inside out, & let soak in the sink for about 10-15 min. Then I'd empty the sink, gently squeeze water out of soaker, roll soaker up in a towel to get more water out, and then dry flat. It can take up to 48 hrs to dry depending on the thickness of the wool. Hope this helps

The last PP instructions for lanolizing were pretty good. I find if i use Eucalan wool wash, I hardly ever have to lanolize!

Thanks. That doesn't sound like too much trouble. I hope I like it. I think I will order the fleece ones too.
