DD is in "2nd grade" but we started with a bit of cursive in "K" mostly because she wanted to learn it. Now she prefers to print but always, ALWAYS, ALWAYS signs her "artwork" in cursive, her first name and last initial. It cracks me up. We were in an art class with another little girl that went to public school and she acted shocked "oh you can write like that!".

I think I remember learning in 1st grade.

As to which is better, I have no idea!

I haven't seen any reviews or anyone on here mention using New American Cursive, but it looks like a really good program from what I've seen online.
I think I am getting a review copy of that program! I will try to remember to post here what we thought of it.

I like that it has a cd with the font so you can print off copywork or anything else for other curricula. I won't be using SWR, but I do like the idea of CF using phonograms. Not sure which one to go with.
Free cursive fonts are readily available on the internet. I've found all the standard American styles, including ones with guidelines and little arrows pointing which way to write.
