The hard to find Church Mouse books are great.

They're super-quick graphic novel reads, but dd also likes the Fashion Kitty books.

Also wanted to add, what about some old-school books like the original Mary Poppins (P.L. Travers). It's nothing like the movie-- very fun, strange and engaging.

And the Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle books I remember from my childhood. Very funny! I'm not sure what reading level they are at, though.
