Newborn question??

My first post! :

I am really excited to try cloth diapering with my new baby due in Aug. I have been planning on buying the Bummis kit.

Just wondering if it matters not to have that little umbilical cord cut out in the beginning?

Thank you!!

the notches were not around when I diapered my daughter for sure and probably not my second either, maybe at the time of the third but I had never seen them.

my point -- we managed without them, no problem.

Congrats on your pending arrival and your leap to cloth! Its a good place to be.

It doesn't matter. You do have to be careful of the cord but depending on your baby's shape, the notches wouldn't necessarily help even if they were there. And prefolds and Bummis are great. Welcome!

Nice, but not essential.

Oh, thank you guys. That makes me feel better. I was worried about buying the extra covers for such a short time and the kit makes so much sense.

Thank you!

We just made sure the actual diaper was snappied below the stump. The cover didn't matter, even the ones with the notch didn't go low enough
