Anyone read it? It's quite fun. One thing that's either never explained or I missed it is how Constance ended up alone.

I read it! I loved the first book, second one not so much. Maybe he will cover how Constance became an orphan in a later book? Did you figure out the puzzle in the first book about what Mr. Benedict's first name is? It said something at the end about, "If you are familiar with the code, the answer lies within your grasp." I assume he is talking about Morse code, but then, "the answer lies within your grasp" makes me think it's the book you're holding... like Booker Benedict? But that can't be it because it has nothing to do with using Morse code. hmmm..
