Elastic edges getting ugly?

I bought elastic in all kinds of cool colors and have sewn them round the edge of my diaper covers. I find the elastic starts fraying and generally looking horrible after a while though. Have you experienced this and have you any idea what I can do about it? Better brand of elastic? Which one? Thanks for any thoughts.

higher quality and making sure you don't put them in the dryer.

I mainly buy online and I have found that higher price is not automatically higher quality :. As for a dryer, that's not a problem as I don't have one
