Those Demon Squirells! - Page 2

I used to think they were cute... in my early 20s, I'd even yell at kids that chased them screaming, leave them alone. Now, I think they are evil (right up their with George Bush). They CONTINUE to chew up my house. I spent
>$1000 removing them and much, much more $$$ repairing all the holes. At first I asked only for no kill traps, but now I don't care.

The winter was fine... not a peep or a scratch. But now that it's getting warmer, I hear them scratching and biting holes in the house again.

The thing I detest most about them is their irreverence! They will look you squarely in the eyes as if to communicate, "go ahead, just try and f@#k with me!"

I'd be happy to start a squirrell hater club!

We just bought one. I'll let you know how it goes.

Heyyyyyy now....I think squirrels are evil creatures spawned by Satan too....but that's just crossing the line!

Squirrels can't HELP that they are aligned with Satan. So there's a SLIGHT difference.

The squirrels are effing INSANE around here!

I totally feel you! We have a small urban lot that it completely crawling with squirrels. I have four different species of squirrels fighting over the acorns that falls in my yard from the neighbors 100 year old oak trees. The squirrels are constantly digging up the tiny bit of lawn I have (only 20 by 20 feet) and leave huge holes all over my perennial garden, where they're dug up my bulbs and plants. ACK! Meanwhile, I'm trying to figure out how to keep them from decimating the veg garden I have planned for this year. : Let me know if you have any solutions!!!

I am just wondering if anything worked for you, I am starting the battle with the evil little rats.

OMG what kind of squirrels do you have??? I have a family of 3 or 4 living in a tree. Usually they just eat the sunflower seeds for the birds. The little ones eat with the birds. The worst mine have done is eat a few flower plants, jump on my banana plant. Okay, one did try to stare me down like 2 yrs ago lol but I've never had one throw something at me.

Some squirrels ate two of my datura plants. I wasn't mad, but I think that squirrel was out of its mind. I notice after two plants they had enough.

Yeah, ya'all have some crazy mutant squirrels. The squirrels around my house are happy to live in the trees, eat acorns and other stuff and as far as I know have never really messed with my garden : I like the genetic mutant white/beige ones I see around town.

They do like to eat all of the bird seed at my ILs house, so the IL have bought all sorts of fancy squirrel proof feeders. It is kind of fun to watch the squirrels figure the feeders out and defeat them. It has to be getting expensive though...

Thanks for this very hilarious thread.
Maybe your squirrels are possessed and you need to get an exorcist?

This thread is too funny. Our squirrels like to eat birdseed and bury walnuts in the garden, but that's it.

Your post reminded me of my stepdad's birdfeeder. At one point he had a giant 4x4 with a silver round squirrel baffle on the bottom, a giant silver point on top, and electric fencing on the bottom of the post to give them a gentle "zap." I called it the "rocket ship."

Some still managed to get seed, I used to love to watch them figure it out and tease him about it. He was quite proud of his contraption... until a black bear starting coming around and just knocked all the feeders to the ground and had his way with them.

In the words of Carrie Bradshaw, a squirrel is just a rat in a cuter outfit.
