difference between CF and Vaginal Sensation when charting

Ok, so I read the Taking Charge book and this is my first month of charting. I'm 26 days into this cycle...but I'm still trying to figure out...on the charts...what is the difference between CF and Vaginal Sensation? It seems like something I should know...but all the examples I've seen in the book just sorta refers back to CF.

Thanks!!

CF is what you have to 'dig' for. It could be tacky, creamy, egg-whity, etc. Vaginal sensation is just an overall sense of how it felt that day and is usually evident in your underthings. Dry? Tacky? damp? wet?

I usually only make note of wet days, days when before charting I used to worry that I was menstruating unexpectedly, only to rush to the washroom to find it was a false alarm. I now know that's EWCM happening right around ovulation and don't sweat it.

ahhhh...I see

I've been logging what I could visually see on the underwear/toilet paper as CF...I may be having more days of EWCF than what I thought. That makes a lot more sense.

Thanks!!!

What you find on the TP is CF. Most of the research on CF is based on what comes out without digging for it, though some people find that they can more accurately judge the start of their fertile time if they do dig for it. Vaginal sensation is caused by CF but is an observation made by feeling rather than looking. Do you feel a wet discharge? When you wipe front to back, does it feel slippery? Both are signs that you might be fertile. I usually use D for dry, W for wet and Sl for slippery as far as sensations are concerned.
