Wool on a newborn?

I would like to get some opinions on wool for a newborn. I have no experience CDing a little one since I started part time CDing with my son only after he was over a year old.
I am pregnant now and am in the process of trying to decide if I will go with CD or sposies for the new baby. I feel that if I am going to CD I would rather go with all natural fibers. However, it seems like it might be kind of crazy to try wool with a newborn, especially while babywearing...it seems like there would be a lot of wicking and I'd be worried about dealing with cleaning poop off of a wool cover....

I did wool with my newborn and it was fine. No wicking or leaking. Of course I am pretty mindful and change AS SOON AS they pee, so that may have contributed to the never leaking thing. We used longies that I made and also wool covers. The covers are great and we prefer them. I would just make sure to get one of a few different types/brands so you can see what fits your babe best and what you like the best. Also, a good alternative to wool is fleece. It isn't natural, but it is breathable and easy to care for. HTH

I did wool with my newborn and loved it. I used Tiny Tush wool soakers overnight and we bed share and never had a leak, not once. I rotated two soakers for night time. Using one, one night and the other the next.

Also if you have a good fitted under the wool, you shouldn't get any breastfeeding blowout poops either. The fitted holds it all in, unlike sposies, which often leak up the back and out all over the place.

It's a tiny bit of work to lanolize the wool, and I really do mean tiny, but you really only have to do it every month or so, and in between you can wash it in a wool wash about every 2-3 weeks, just airing out between uses, and if you do get any poop using a wool wash bar to spot clean.

I bought a few pairs of knitted shorties and longies too, and he looked so cute in them, and they were so soft and gentle on his skin. We had a summer baby too, but wool was great because it helped keep him warm in the air conditioned house, and kept him cool and comfortable outside.

I'm a wool fan...lol

I've put wool on my baby since birth. I like wraps on a newborn. I also use fitteds and they contain the poo. Wicking isn't a problem if they are changed often enough.

Thanks for the replies!
The wool I have been using on my son is Kiwi Pie Peels and Sugar peas wool covers. I will have to check out the Tiny Tush soakers. I would love to get some sustainable babyish, but my son will be potty learning soon and it is too early in my pregnancy to start investing that kind of $ in CDing...I want to make sure I am 100% committed to it and also I'd like to wait until I know the gender.
mommy2abigail: fleece is a great suggestion. I have a sugar peas fleece cover that is really heavy duty. I will have a fall/winter baby (in New England) so I won't have to worry about the warmth. I definitley agree in theory with trying to change right away...but if I remember correctly don't newborns pee constantly? I am thinking...going for a walk...sleeping etc means there will definitley be time that the baby is wet...
funkymamjoy: what kind of wraps do you like? Also, this is probably for a different post, but which kind of fitteds do you like? from what i understand kissaluvs are supposed to be the favorite for newborns?

Mine are all homemade. I like the wrap pattern on lionbrand.com, except I didn't felt it.

My fitteds are very similar to the mama bird pattern
