coconut oil past "best by" date....

I have an almost full 29 oz jar of organic coconut oil that expired 11/07. It still smells delicious with not a hint of rancidity. Can you think of any reason why I shouldn't use it. It would be used topically rather than internally BTW. Thanks for you help

If it's not rancid I can't think of anything. Coconut oil if it is unrefined is rather anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. I think for cooking purposes you could notice an issue if it was rancid. But otherwise, used externally I can't see any problems with it.
