Can I wash new pockets and inserts with soiled ones?

I'm brand new to cloth diapering - and am loving it so far. I thought I'd only be going part time, but I've scratched that idea and am going to cd more like 90% of the time! :

I ordered a few more pocket diapers and am curious...can I give them their first wash, and at the same time wash my soiled diapers? Just thinking about streamlining the whole laundry routine!

That's what I do. I've been acquiring one or two new dipes at a time, and there is no way that I'm going to wash one diaper in a load.

Sure! No reason to segregate that one from the others, unless of course the new one contains hemp. New hemp has oils in in that need to be washed out multiple times before being laundered regularly. Other than that, there isn't any reason I can think of to wash a new one separately.

This is good to know! I'm thinking about getting some hemp inserts and was not aware of the oil thing.

There is such a thing as pre-washed hemp, but even with those the instructions usually tell you to hot wash it alone a time or two before washing it with other diapers.

Great - thanks!! I'm glad I don't have to run the machine for one measly diaper...seems so wastefull! Good to know about the hemp, too!
