Prometrium? Progesterone?

Thread Starter
My son was stillborn last sept at 33 weeks. I had a miscarriage (5weeks) in Jan. and just started miscarrying last week again (5weeks). My ob said it looks like my progesterone levels are too low and that could be what's causing the mc. To be honest, I have no clue about any of this. I have an appt. scheduled to go and talk with him about my options april 1st, but in the meantime he has prescribed Prometrium for me to be taking. I haven't had a chance to tell him that I HATE taking meds and am allergic to everything. Anytime I'm on a med, I will have one or more of the side effects listed. I really want a baby but I just don't know about going the medical route yet.
Does anyone know of any natural ways to help with this situation? I'm trying to research it, but I would also like to hear from people who have been through this kind of thing. TIA!

I'm so sorry to hear that you are going through another miscarriage. You may want to ask around at your pharmacy to find out if there are pharmacists in your area who could mix a natural progrestrone blend. I know of women who couldn't take the progestrone drugs but their bodies accepted this cream that the pharmacist would blend. I don't know what's in it but it seems to work just as well. You may want to inquire about this before you see your doctor as they have to prescribe this cream as well. It's not usually covered by drug plans here in Canada though...notsure where you are or what your coverage may be.

Progesterone

I am actually trying to conceive as well and was told that my progesterone was too low. I have been taking progesterone pills that are bioavailable which is more natural. I go to a place called birthcare which has a more natural way of doing thing. I have been trying the pills for 2 months now...no luck.....have to try one more and call if that doesn't work.

I would definitely tell your doctor what you want and what you don't want. Make them aware of how you are feeling about it, cause if you don't, you may end up doing things you don't want to do and regretting them later.....I did that when I was told I needed a cesarean with my first son......if they won't support you, then find another doctor. Stay informed and be honest with your doctors, I wish you luck!
