Vaccine Safety Studies

Thread Starter
I'd like to compile a list of the studies done to show each licensed vaccine's safety. Any one else worked on this?

I have most of them that I could find in my research folder though they are not organized at all. Basically what i did was look at the package insert and got all the trial studies off those. And then from there I was able to find the earlier trial studies not on the inserts. So for most you can find the different phases all that way.

so, here's an example:

acthib had many trials...I found references to about 45 trials.

Results of the registration clinical trials of vaccine 'Act-HIB' produced by 'Pasteur Merieux Connaught', France
Zhurnal Mikrobiologii, Epidemiologii i Immunobiologii [ZH. MIKROBIOL. EPIDEM. IMMUNOBIOL.]. no. 2, pp. 45-48. Mar 1999.
I have this one translated through an online translator if you want the results I can email them to you. It's not exactly easy to read but the tables are good.

Anyway...so I have like tons for each vaccine like that. But, like I said, I started with the package insert and the trials mentioned on there and then went from there to find more and more and those yielded more results and so on.

And sometimes it was easier...

LIke with rotateq, AAP put out this article compiling all the trial and safety results which made it much easier for me to track them down for that one:

http://pediatrics.aappublications.or...act/121/6/1206

ETA:

this one was also useful for rotavirus, as it linked a lot of the safety trials at the bottom:

ok, I could be here all day but you get the idea!

So can anyone direct me to a website/websites which helps parents pick out some of the fatal flaws that many of those studies have?

From what I understand, many of the studies are total garbage when you read beyond the conclusions reached.

I was able to get full text on a lot of them by using my university library back a year or so when I was doing grad work there. I didn't have to pay either, which was nice...they simply had a lot more access I guess plus they had a lot of med journals there. I would look to that kind of thing if you can't get the full text online.

I know I have the full text of at least 3 rotavirus ones, a couple hib, a couple DTaP and many prevnar. sometimes though when you post them here it asks for a login again? yet I can see the whole thing...but I never paid for it so I have no idea how that works.

can you read this?

http://pediatrics.aappublications.or...ds.2006-2630v1

links like this sometimes I click on them and I can read the full text, sometimes I click on it and it asks me to pay.

how about this:

lots of resources here:

So, i fyou go to clincalstudyresults.org and put in GSK and then look at Infanrix, you get a few full text trials and which phase they are. So here is a phase III:

http://pdf.clinicalstudyresults.org/...udy_6528_0.pdf

Likewise, you can go in and put in Merck and then the combined MMR and you will get a list of their phase II and III trials which can be accessed in full by clicking on the link.

example:

Once you've got the full citation on a study you can get a free copy through a public library. You may have to push a bit, some librarians are lazy and some don't know what is possible, but the majority of public libraries in the U.S. can get a paper or electronic copy of almost any study. Start by looking at the free periodical databases. Most have thousands of free-text scientific studies available. If that doesn't work, then do an interlibrary loan request. The first one will be a hassle, but once you've opened the door it should be easier.

BTW I could see the full text in both of the other links you posted. Do you happen to have any of the other links to studies handy? My nephew has vaccine damage from the DTaP, but he also had Prevnar and Hib too and I would love to see what you've found!
