Tandem mamas - how is it going???

Just looking to get a little support from other tandem Mama's in our DDC...

Sometimes it seems to be going really well...and other times I want to cry...I am so thankful my DH is home for a couple of weeks because I am not sure the tandeming would work out if he wasn't home. DS2 is a very lazy latcher, so it takes some work to get him latched (and to stay that way), DS1 on the other hand is eager to nurse any time I will let him (which did help with engorgement!)...I am still working on ways to nurse them both at the same time that is comfortable for me (and them), but haven't had too much success yet, so I am still nursing one and then the other, which makes for very long nights (and days )...

So anyway...how is it going for you? Any experienced tandemers are welcome to share tips!!

I'm letting my older ds nurse a couple times per day... my nips are sore and the baby is nursing all the time so my patience is not at the level it normally is.

It is going fairly well here, I haven't tried to nurse them both at the same time yet, not sure I will actually. It is so nice for the engorgement to have DS nurse off some of the milk. DS is not thrilled when I make him stop, and seems to think every time DD gets to nurse it is his turn too! He isn't too bad about it though, he's getting to nurse 3 to 4 times a day which he is happy with since he was down to once a day before she was born. I feel like I'm always nursing as well, but part of that is that DD seems to be a snacker, so she'll eat for 5 minutes sleep for 15/20 minutes and eat for 5 minutes again!

My 32 month old son has been weaned for 4 months...but if he asks for some after the baby is born I plan not to deny him..but will definitely set limits to keep my sanity. I am actually hoping that he will not ask for it..or after he is welcomed he will not want it. However..last night...out of no where...he asked for milk! I told him I was dry (fib) but he could pretend. He was content with that. He looked at them for a while and then curled up like a baby and sucked on air. It was really cute. The experience left me realizing that I do not want to nurse him anymore. Hopefully after the baby comes it all falls into place. It does scare me to think of Grant trying to nurse full time again..and all the battles that could entail.

Mid-August my son (just before he turned two) went from nursing a lot everyday to just playing about 3 times a day. Sometime in January, he stopped completely. When he saw the baby nursing he asked to nurse. I let him and it was as if he had forgotten, but after a few days, he remembered. I am limiting him to before nap and before bed (and very effective bribery during family pictures). My baby girl is a great nurser, so I don't mine my son nursing. I was prepared to have lots of problems like I had with my son, but things are going really well. She nurses a lot, but I co-sleep and as long as I nurse, she will stay in bed and let me sleep.
