Fitted with ties have been around for a very long time. I don't think they took off in popularity in the USA like they were in England and Australia.
IMO US & Canada Wahms set the trend for comfort, convenience and organics, most of those did not include ties.
I used a commercial brand of fitteds that attached in the back. They had long tabs. They were not horribly cumbersome but more so that aplix or snaps in the front. I can only imagine ties to be a bit cumbersome with a wiggly baby, but maybe not. I hope someone can chime in as to the use of them.

I haven't used them either Kim, but to me they also look a little cumbersome. Here's another brand I've seen people here using: http://www.tinybirdsorganics.com/org...tie_nappy.html
I saw a recent post here about them....so i know there are people who use them!

I *heart* my Disana tie diapers - I even got to visit the factory in Germany and meet the owner.
: They have been a fabulous diaper for me to use - my DH won't touch them, but I love how soft and flexible they are. No red marks, no nothing. I mainly use the butt sweaters over them, but I also love my Imse Vimse covers. They get a little bulky under clothes, but I mainly use them at nighttime and hanging around the house.
