Anyone else working on turning a breech or transverse baby? - Page 2

Kristin: Did you end up trying a version??? Hope it was successful and baby turned!!!

My babe didn't turn and I had him via. c-section Wednesday 4/1. His name is Nathaniel James and he was 8 pounds 8 ounces and a whopping 22.5 inches long. Too big to turn apparently He's doing great. I'm hanging in there. It's definitely harder than an natural vaginal delivery, but it's what had to be done. Good luck- saying prayers for you!!!

Congratulations! I love his name! That is the name I had picked out since I was little that I would name a child if I ever had a boy. LOVE it!

Congratulations, Jenny! And welcome to the world, baby Nathaniel! :

My c-section is scheduled for Friday morning. We found out last week that our baby managed to get the cord wrapped around her neck twice, so a version would have been too risky. I'm making my peace with having to have a c-section. It does help to know that we did everything we could, and that this really will be the safest way for our baby to be born. I can't believe that in three days at this time, I will be holding my daughter!

Kristin:

Sorry the version wasn't possible for you I had come to terms with the c-section a few days before and that made it much easier. One thing I did do was to insist on viewing the birth. I did it with a mirror and it meant the world to me. I was so worried I wouldn't "experience" the birth without seeing it. I got to see Nate coming out and even his head being a bit stuck and more difficult to come out. I was one of the first to know he was a boy : If you feel you want to see it, I'd insist. They don't do it as standard practice. I also didn't have my arms strapped down. I couldn't hold him right away because they had to get his temperatures regulated, but as soon as I was able (in recovery) he was in my arms and trying to nurse. Good luck on Friday!! I will be thinking of you!!!!!!!

Thanks to everyone else for the congratulations!!!

We had the worse ultrasound appointment today...

I'm 38 weeks today and baby had been vertex since about week 32 and was still vertex last week... We went for an ultrasound today to be sure my placenta was not previa anymore. We were quite sure it was under my bellybutton but, well, we went to check.

They made us wait for about 1,5 hour, elling us, after 20 minutes that we would have to wait 20 minutes more (we waited one hour more... they didn't tell us anything).
When we finally got to go for the US, the technician tells us it was nice of us to "let this other woman go first" ?? What other woman ?? It seems a woman came. She hadn't made an appointment but her daughter was at the hospital, so they let her go first... without telling us anything ::

We spent 10 minutes with that woman. During which she told us "placenta is higher. Good." "Baby is breech, if he doesn't move, you'll need a c-section" and... That's all !

She made the US so fast we couldn't see anything and when I dared asking if she had any idea about how big was the baby, she just told us "no, doctor asked for the placenta. I didn't look at the baby" and that was all, she told me to get dressed : :

I have an appointment with my MW tomorrow (we want to have a HB)... We'll see what she says

Oh no, Ilek! That's so insensitive of the ultrasound tech, to give you news that will potentially have such a big impact on you, in such a casual and uncaring way.

If your baby just turned in the last week, there's a good chance there's still room for him/her to turn back. And maybe, unlike jenholle and me, you'll turn out to be a candidate for an external version. I'll be sending baby-turning vibes your way! Keep us posted!

I'm so sorry Ilek!!! I sincerely hope that after your appt. with you MW you might have another option! Like Kristin said ECV is often an option. It wasn't for us- me b/c of the neck position of the baby and Kristin b/c of the cord, but many women try it and it's about 50% successful.
Good luck! I'll pray that baby turns back to where he/she should be

Thank you girls

Actually, I'm calmer now... About 30 minutes before the US, baby had the hiccup and he was still clearly with his head down (unless I felt his hiccup moving his foot ). As the US was to check that my placenta wasn't previa, the tech started from below and I'm wondering if baby didn't just flipped to avoid her.
My MW is coming in a few hours, we'll see what she tells. And if the baby is breech... Well, I trust him, i'm sure there is a good reason and I would be ready to give birth to his little feet first ut I don't know yet what my MW policy is about that...

We'll see and I'll come and tell you

I hate to say it, but I still mostly feel hiccups down low, even though I know for sure my kiddo is breech. If I have my hand on her head, I feel her head moving, but if my hands aren't on my belly I only notice the sensation down low. No idea why.

Good luck, here's hoping your lo has already flipped himself back around!

I also felt the hiccups down low and Nate's feet and but were definitely born first. Hoping that's not the case for you though!!! Good luck and please update when you get the chance!!

Good luck tomorrow Kristin!!!

Awwww, Nathaniel is the boy name we have picked out, too!

Mine didn't turn either; Neah Imani was born via c-section on Thursday, 4/2 weighing 7 lbs 4.8 oz and 19.5 inches long!

Jenny, I'm glad you're making progress with the recovery. Don't overexert yourself, though. Rest is a good thing!
