Curtains, how to hem them?

I am looking for a quick and easy way to shorten some extra long curtains I bought on super sale for my living room. There are five windows, and my lest attempt at hemming curtains ended, well, unevenly. So I need a really easy way.

They are sheer and netty kind of with swiss dots. They are made of (gasp) polyester. I actually love them because they let light in but lend privacy to the room and they actually look a lot nicer than they sound.

Anyway, I thought just trimming them with pinking sheers would do the trick, bu I fear I am being lazy AND that they'll look terrible.

What's your best advice?

I do have a machine--I quilt, or should I say I have quilted--but I'm not good on it at all.

TIA!

Measure, mark, pin, sew.

You can also just loosely hand baste them in place. Sheer poly is a bear to sew with though.

Shear is such a PITA to work with I rarely mess around with folding, pinning and sewing a hem. I'd lay them out flat on the floor on something like this if you have it. Or really any way to get a straight line if you don't have something like it.

Cut to the length you want then, using thread that matches well, zig-zag over the edge.
