DH's Real Men Support Breastfeeding T-shirt - Page 2

If I were your DH, I go go to the supervisor with an innocent and humble attitude and say. "I talked to my wife and a bunch of other people and none of us can figure out what is inappropriate about this shirt. I was not intentionally doing anything wrong, so I would like to know specifically what was inappropriate about this shirt so I don't make the same mistake again. Not only did I not think the shirt was inappropriate, but I thought it was supportive of something commendable like if I were to wear a shirt supporting donating blood or raising cancer awareness. So I guess I am really confused. Could you explain to me exactly what the issue is?" and deliver it with a humble and confused countenace and not in any way argumentative and see what they say.

first of all, I LOVE the t-shirt and can say my husband would wear it with pride.

but................

I don't think it is appropriate in the work force becuase where do you draw the line?

Our work place has a dress code rule that states "no oversized logos, no political/religeous (sp?) statements or depications that may be offensive to others".

I had an associate (at another work place) come to work with a tee that had "no wire hangers" lettered in the front. On the back it said "keep abortion free & legal". As a group we were all pro-choice however he had to cover up or go home becuase we knew some customers would find it offensive.

When I see some of the t-shirts out there today I think most companies have to err on the side of caution to avoid creating what could be called a hostile work enviroment.

Think about a pro-bush tee in a liberal setting? Or that cartoon with obama illustrated to look the chimp attack? Places are actually selling those! A lot of people thought they were ok? How does an HR rep say what is OK and not OK?

: next he could wear one of those breast cancer research supporting "save second base" shirts. Then at least when there was a complaint it'd be legitimately about breasts in connection to sexual activity.

[QUOTE=NoliMum;13440683]Well there's not much to do about it, and I can see how it could be misconstrued as a boobie joke, especially by someone from an older generation, when men supporting anything feminine was taboo, unless they were supporting for sexual reasons...
