Measles in babies, in adults

Do any of you have experience with your children (let's say under 3) having mealses? Do you have experience in having measles as an adult?

We are non-vax in MMR right now, and we have a 3 yo and 6m old. Both me and DH had the MMR vax, so i'm guessing our vax immunity has waned (we're in our 30s). And I'm guessing my 6mo didnt' get all that many antibodies from my placenta, and isn't getting much from my breastmilk now.

I'm just wondering what might happen should we encounter the disease...how miserable would it be. I know about vit A supplementation, SA-- I intend to have a master plan about how to deal with it should it come along. Actually I want to print that WHO link that ema-adama sited a few weeks back, and have it in our library at home.

Interested in first hand experiences, or from what you've heard from friends/family.

my oldest had it at just over a year old.
it was no big deal. she had a fever for two days (second day it was quite high) and the day after she had a rash all over. it didn't seem to be itchy and was gone in about 3 days.
there had been an outbreak in the city i was living in at the time and she must have caught it at the dr's office.
when the dr diagnosed it he was pretty unconcerned as well.
we live in canada if that makes a difference.

Did you get it too? Did you quarantine your lo? Did you supplement?

My DP had it at age three. He was technically immune-compromised because he was born with a heart defect and was never breastfed. It was no big deal. No complications. This was in the UK in the '80s.

I got measles at age 16. I did feel rotten, really lethargic, and the rash was really uncomfortable. But it was over in a few days and not really a huge deal. I don't remember much about treatment other than calamine lotion for the rash and lots of rest/fluids.

Actually you probably have pretty decent immunity. It seems that *IF* you get immunity to measles (hence the second dose added in the 90s) it seems to last well.

I had measles in 1958 when I was 8 years old. We were living (7 of us) in a two room apartment. My mother moved me into my parents bed so I wouldn't disturb the other 4 kids. I vaguely remember feeling yucky and being bothered by light. I was over it in a few days. My younger brother and sister (3 years old, 1 years old) didn't catch them, but of course they had some degree of immunity from my mom, who had had measles as a child.

no, i didn't get it. i had immunity though i'm not sure if it was natural or a vaccine. we didn't 'quarantine' but i did stick around the house with her for a couple days. no supplements, i let the fever run its course rather than medicating it and that seemed to help a lot.
