Hepatitis vax and travel

my family and i are going to south america next year. my dad just told me to make sure we are all up on our Hep vaxes, which my 2yo son does not have. he hasn't been vaxed past 6mths and i will have a 3mth old when we go who will be totally vax free.

does my son "need" to get his hep vaxes before we go???

They are not required.

I constantly find myself revisiting this one (hep A mostly) but we always end up not doing it...going again in May so yet again dh brings it up...sigh....

I wouldn't do it. I would just take the usual precautions....dont let them drink the water, eat food from sketchy places, wash your hands alot etc...
